Is the oldschool concept only referred to every non-inscribable items or only to pre-nerf items?

So, why do u call OS even items that drops nowadays? i mean, just call them noninscribable and leave OS for pre-nerf items or things that don't drop anymore...

How is every uninscribable item now old school. Still drop, right now, in high abundance = OLDschool? no i dont think so. OS = doesnt drop anymore + usually Q8's included in this group because drop rate is so low. But a Q9 single mod, uninsc? Not oldschool

Why would we make Oldschool mean uninsc if we could just say uninsc... The whole point of OLDschool is to denote that it comes from the old days and not right now.

By that logic any drop i get in Tyria = old school cause its old content? wtf? I kill a Loadstone ele and get a blue wand and thats oldschool? And what about drops from Nightfall? Nightfall is over 4 years old, is that old enough content to be considered old school?

Oldschool should be weps that dont drop anymore or are Q8 or have a very rare combo of mods. But now people just tag on Oldschool with any random uninsc they have and think its super rare. Tyria didnt go anywhere, i promise. Its all still there if you wanna get uninsc's

i think its appropriate to also include Q8's + perf dualmods because even though they could technically drop today the majority of them came from the 'old' days of abusive farming

You're twisting the definition to suit yourself. You argue that OS should be reserved for drops that can no longer drop, which is fair enough, I can see your angle even if I disagree. But then you tack on other rare items like q8s making the definition just a random assortment of items with no clear definition.

Hmmm no not really. OS is for items that dont drop anymore. Not items that cant drop anymore. There probably hasnt been an uninsc q8 with perf mods drop for years, but technically it could still possibly drop. 100% of the q7's + other nerfed qualities came from 'old' guild wars. 99% of Q8's and other rare skin perf moded weps came from 'old' guildwars also because of the extreme farming of the time. Thus, you generally would think to refer to this assortment of collectors items as 'oldschool'. If i can easily kill a couple mobs in Tyria and get a gold shield, why is that oldschool?

This isnt fcking scientific classification. We arent making 100% super defined clear cuts definitions. Its a term we, the community, coined to describe a set of rare weps, that come almost exclusively from 2005-6~ guildwars.

Except that as evidenced by this thread and many like it "the community" don't agree on what it means, that makes it pretty much a useless term. Prenerf and uninsc. on the other hand are universally understood to mean "can no longer be created" and "not inscribable". Since both these terms exist, oldschool is redundant non?

I meant the nerf of staves for example...or 10/10 sundering......or else skins that don't drop anymore like a Swamp Club.
